Meet Krista D. Butler

Candidate for Cook County Circuit Court Judge

Krista D. Butler is a graduate of DePaul University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a concentration in Human Services.  In addition, she received her Juris Doctorate from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1993.

Attorney Butler has been involved in a number of different roles since her licensure.  Her multidisciplinary approach to meet the needs of those relying upon her assistance has always been focused on ensuring that they are treated justly, fairly and with the dignity and respect that they deserve.  To accommodate the array of requests placed upon her, she has been involved in a number of legal practice areas.  Some of these areas, include, but are not limited to the following: Probate, Guardianship, Contracts, Forcible Entry and Detainer, Mental Health, Immigration, Domestic Relations, Personnel, Employment Discrimination, Social Security, Disability Rights, Health Law, 1st Amendment issues and Child Protection/Juvenile Justice.

She is admitted to practice in both state and federal court.  Her bar admissions include the State of Illinois, the Supreme Court for the State of Illinois, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the Supreme Court of the United States of America.  Attorney Butler is a member of the Cook County Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association.

She has always been connected to the needs of her community.  She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the South Suburban Family Shelter, an agency that provides domestic violence services and supports for both victims and perpetrators.  She has volunteered her services at the Annual Expungement Summit which seeks to assist the community in expunging criminal records and provides alternatives when expungement/sealing are not viable options.

She is the proud parent of Nicholas, her only child, who also strives to serve and improve the lives of others.   She resides in the south suburbs with her son and Gizmo, their beloved family dog.
